The Algarve, course by course.

Three hundred days of sun and more than thirty courses within an hour. This is the index Aurea actually plays, from the Laranjal to Monte Rei.

  • 300 days of sun
  • 35+ courses within an hour
  • 7 courses in 10 minutes

These are the golf courses our clients play most. They are close by, well maintained and easy to fit into the day.

01 · The home courses

Quinta do Lago & Vale do Lobo

Seven courses within ten minutes of the office. For most clients, this is the daily rotation.

Quinta do Lago South

The tournament course: host of the Portuguese Open eight times and still the benchmark round in the Golden Triangle.

Quinta do Lago North

Rebuilt in 2014 with Paul McGinley's input; wider, faster and generally the members' favourite.

Laranjal

The newest of the three Quinta courses, laid through umbrella pine and five lakes on the old orange groves.

San Lorenzo

Routed along the Ria Formosa estuary; the closing stretch beside the water is among Europe's finest.

Pinheiros Altos

Three distinct nines, Pines, Corks and Olives, make a flexible morning for mixed-ability groups.

Vale do Lobo Royal

Home of the most photographed hole in Portugal: a carry across ochre cliffs with the Atlantic below.

Vale do Lobo Ocean

Rolls downhill toward the sea; shorter than the Royal but windier, and prettier at the end of the day.

02 · The marina rotation

Vilamoura & Vila Sol

Fifteen minutes west, six championship courses share the pine belt behind the marina.

Old Course

Frank Pennink's pine-lined grande dame; tight lines, small greens and the region's most traditional golf.

Victoria

Arnold Palmer's design and the longest course in Portugal; the home of the Portugal Masters.

Pinhal

The second-oldest in Vilamoura, threading umbrella pine with glimpses of the sea.

Laguna

Open, water-crossed and exposed to the breeze; the closest thing to links golf on this coast.

Millennium

A gentler parkland round, part of it through pine, that suits a relaxed holiday four-ball.

Vila Sol

Championship golf through a protected estate of pine, oak and fig.

03 · Worth the drive

The countryside & the east

Two courses justify leaving the triangle: one in the Loulé hills, one near the Spanish border.

Ombria

A sustainable inland resort course folded into the Barrocal valleys, ten minutes above Loulé.

Monte Rei North

Consistently ranked Portugal's number one; a private, immaculate day out in the eastern hills.
